📖 Serving Without Expectation
🌟 Scripture: “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” — Luke 17:10 (NIV)
🔎 Devotional Thought:
It feels good to be recognized when we do something kind for others, but Jesus teaches us that true service isn’t about getting praise—it’s about obedience to God.
In Luke 17:10, Jesus reminds His disciples that serving God isn’t about earning rewards or applause. Instead, we serve because it is our duty and privilege as His followers.
Think about the best acts of kindness—the ones done quietly, without expecting a “thank you” in return. Those moments reflect a heart like Jesus, who came to serve, not to be served (Mark 10:45).
🙋♂️ Personal Reflection:
- Do I expect recognition when I help others?
- How can I serve with a humble heart, expecting nothing in return?
- Am I willing to serve even when no one is watching?
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to serve others with a humble heart, expecting nothing in return. Teach me to follow Jesus’ example and to find joy in obedience to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
📖 Takeaway:
True service isn’t about being noticed—it’s about loving and obeying God.
